Outhouse, not unlike the one we used at Rock Island School
This is a picture of an old outhouse, which is not unlike the His and Hers Outhouses the students at Rock Island School had to use. The Hers was behind the left corner of the school and the His was back behind the right corner. Both were several yards behind the school making it very inconvenient in rain, snow and cold weather.

Rock Island One-Teacher School my sister & I attended
This is the one-teacher school where my sister and I attended in the mid to late 1940's. We used the right side of the building. It had two large rooms with a large Warm Morning coal burning Heater between them.It is now used as a home.
First house we lived in when we moved to Rock Island, TN
When we lived in this house, it was tan stucco and was where the TVA Substation currently is. TVA moved it down the road and across from Falls City Baptist Church. The current owners had it decorated for Christmas when I took this picture.
2nd House we lived in, in Rock Island, TN
We moved to this house when TVA moved the other one where we lived. It was owned by Sam Grissom. Juanita and Allen Grissom lived there after we left Rock Island.

This is the Riverbed behind the old Falls City Cotton Mill taken when water was low. The old mill was used for storage for TVA. My sister and I used to walk all over the riverbed. The TVA Powerhouse can been seen in the upper left corner.
